Rev. Myra began her involvement with Unity in Wisconsin in 1995 when she was spiritually guided through meditation to “seek a church to serve in.” Not having any idea about what the message meant, she decided to check out an obscure little church not far from where she lived. The Unity church she walked into immediately became her spiritual home, and the teachings of Unity soon became the heart and soul of her spirituality. Myra then focused on leadership in Unity by teaching and speaking at various churches in Wisconsin while completing the Licensed Unity Teacher program in 2005. The undeniable call to ministry came to her at the end of her LUT studies, and she soon left her home and work as a psychotherapist in private practice to enter ministerial school at Unity Institute in 2006.
During ministerial school Myra worked on the prayer call lines at Silent Unity in the telephone prayer ministry and developed a spiritual counseling program for the congregation of Unity Village Chapel at Unity Village, Missouri. She also served the congregation at Unity of Manhattan in Manhattan, Kansas by being their Student Minister for one year in 2008. Myra completed a church internship with our community, and she became our Associate Minister upon graduation from Unity Institute in June 2009. She became our Senior Minister in June 2011. Since then the church has grown into a highly engaged, diverse ministry with many leaders, unique teams and volunteers. In addition, Rev. Myra has enjoyed mentoring numerous ministerial students and she has been active in Unity Worldwide Ministries (UWM). She currently serves on the UWM Board of Trustees and on multiple UWM teams.
Myra has a passion for fostering spiritual growth and leadership in others. She loves to collaborate and create community-centered ministry that celebrates, honors and empowers all people in knowing their divine nature. Myra is compassionate, prayerful and joy-filled, and strongly supports our healing needs, our personal growth and our spiritual transformation. We are fortunate to have Myra with us because she is passionate about serving our spiritual community and the Unity movement, and she is committed to bringing forward authentic, open and loving spiritual oneness in a way that honors all.
Myra is married to jazz musician and tap dancer, Lonnie McFadden, and resides in Kansas City, North. She has three children, April, Dani and Gabe, and five wonderful grandchildren, Sky, Martin, Mira, Addie, and Harlow. No cats...yet.
