The mission of our Youth Ministry is to create a fun and dynamic center where youth of all ages are fed spiritually and socially. Together, we realize and affirm our divine potential.
During Sunday service, we offer a full youth program for infants through high school. Our littlest ones (up to age 4) are cared for in the nursery, and the classes for the rest of our kids use curriculum based on a combination of Unity principles, prayer and meditation, metaphysics, and Bible teachings as appropriate for each age group.
Our YFM families also enjoy our many family-friendly events! These activities give our youth an opportunity to interact outside of the Sunday experience. They cross age groups and allow our family and parents to develop relationships within our community.
For the safety of the children, we have 2 adults in each classroom, ready to greet the children as they arrive on Sunday morning. Each adult has had a background screening done as well as training in youth ministry.
We ask that parents sign their child into their classroom and that they return promptly after service to sign their child out. Children are not allowed to leave with anyone other than the individual who signed them in. To comply with insurance guidelines and best practices, we require children under the age of 16 to have direct supervision of a parent/guardian while in the church or on church grounds.
MEET OUR
YOUTH & FAMILY DIRECTOR
Holly Wu began as UKCN’s Youth and Family Ministry Coordinator in October 2022. She views her role as one of support for kids, family and classroom volunteers. She brings a background of experience with 20+ years of teaching as a National Board Certified Teacher, an administrator, published author, and co-founder/director of a private school (full curriculum plus
mindfulness/meditation daily and social-emotional intelligence emphasis).
She also serves UKCN as a chaplain and has recently completed the SEE courses with Unity Worldwide Ministries with intentions to apply to ministerial school.
As a wife and mom, her family moved to Kansas City in 2021. They previously lived in New Mexico where she served as Youth Coordinator, along with the Board of Trustees (president) for a three year term at her local Unity church.
